These children will be working closely alongside Mrs Steele and Miss Holford to help to organise events for the school and to show visitors around our school.

These children are the captains of our school house teams. They will lead meetings with the houses, help to organise inter-house competitions and encourage their teams to earn as many house points as they can.

Our Reading Buddies from Year 5 support Early Years and KS1 children with their reading. They also ensure all of the children in the school have a variety of books available for them to read.
|My name is Elina. I’m 10 years old and I am one of Smallthorne’s Reading Buddies. My job as a reading buddy is to keep the bookshelves throughout the school tidy and teaching the other children to read. My favourite subject is Art because it’s the only opportunity to let your imagination run wild! I enjoy reading because it’s like entering an alternate universe!|

For my role as a Reading Buddy, I will be reading with the younger children and helping them with their Phonics. I wanted to be a Reading Buddy because I like helping out around the school.
In every class there will be a designated school council member. The children chosen to be the School Council Leaders will arrange and lead meetings (supported by Mrs Owen) and will organise events and make decisions alongside Mrs Steele and Miss Holford to ensure the school is the best place it can be for our children. The School Council Leaders will be chosen soon.
